-
Select a Service: Choose the service you need from the available options. For REAL ID, select the appropriate driver license or ID card option as mentioned above.
-
Choose a Location: Available DMV office locations will be displayed. If your preferred office is not listed, check back later as new locations are frequently added.
-

-
Confirm Your Appointment: After scheduling, you will receive a confirmation link via text message and/or email. It is crucial to confirm your appointment within 15 minutes of receiving this link. Failure to confirm will result in automatic cancellation of your appointment.
Appointment Confirmation and Reminders
The N.C. DMV utilizes a confirmation and reminder system to help you keep track of your scheduled appointment:
-
Initial Confirmation: As mentioned earlier, you must confirm your appointment within 15 minutes of booking via the link sent to your provided contact information.
-
Reminder Confirmation: Four days before your scheduled appointment, you will receive a reminder message via text and/or email with another confirmation link. You must confirm again within 24 hours of receiving this reminder message to avoid cancellation.
-
Important Note: If you schedule your appointment less than four days in advance, you will only receive the initial 15-minute confirmation, and not the four-day reminder confirmation. Appointments made before 11:30 p.m. on March 25, 2024, will also not receive a confirmation link in their four-day reminder text.
