Understanding the Terms and Conditions of Blair Online Auctions

Participating in online auctions, especially Blair Online Auctions, can be an exciting experience. To ensure a smooth and transparent process, it’s crucial to understand the terms and conditions set forth by the auction group. These terms are a legally binding contract between you, the bidder, and Hansen Auction Group, the organizers of Blair Online Auctions. By using their website and participating in auctions, you agree to these terms, which are designed to protect both bidders and the auction company.

Key Aspects of Blair Online Auction Terms You Need to Know

Navigating the world of online auctions requires familiarity with the rules of engagement. Blair Online Auctions, powered by Hansen Auction Group, operates under a clear set of guidelines. Let’s break down the essential components of their terms and conditions to help you bid with confidence.

Changes to the Agreement and Auction Scheduling

Hansen Auction Group reserves the right to modify their terms and conditions at any time. These changes are effective immediately upon being updated on their website. It is your responsibility to review these terms regularly, as each time you use the site, you are agreeing to the most current version. Similarly, Blair Online Auctions can be canceled or rescheduled at any point, for any reason. It is advisable to check for updates before participating in any auction. Note that unless specifically stated in the auction details, office hours and pickups are not available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Bidding Process and Auto-Extend Feature in Blair Auctions

Understanding the bidding process is paramount for successful participation in Blair Online Auctions. When you place a maximum bid, the system doesn’t immediately jump to that price. Instead, it incrementally increases your bid as other bidders compete or to meet reserve prices.

A key feature of Blair Online Auctions is the auto-extend bidding. This ensures fair opportunity for all bidders. If a bid is placed within the last 10 minutes before the scheduled closing time of a lot, the bidding for that specific lot will automatically extend for another 10 minutes. This continues in 10-minute increments until no further bids are placed within a 10-minute window, ensuring that the item goes to the highest genuinely interested bidder.

Item Descriptions, Inspections, and “As Is, Where Is” Sales

Blair Online Auctions and Hansen Auction Group strive to provide accurate descriptions of all items. Any statements, whether printed or verbal, made by their staff are considered opinions given in good faith. However, it is critical to remember that all items in Blair Online Auctions are sold “AS IS, WHERE IS.” This means items are sold in their existing condition at the location specified, and it is the bidder’s responsibility to conduct their own due diligence.

Taking advantage of open house inspection periods is highly recommended. This allows you to personally examine items of interest before placing bids and make informed decisions. All sales through Blair Online Auctions are final. Once a bid is placed and won, it forms a legally binding contract. Hansen Auction Group retains the right to reject any bid for any reason. They are not liable for errors in cataloging, authenticity, or any defects or imperfections that are not explicitly noted. In the rare event a refund is issued, it will not exceed the original purchase price of the lot.

Bidder Responsibilities, Account Security, and Website Use

As a bidder in Blair Online Auctions, you have certain responsibilities. Maintaining the confidentiality of your account password is crucial, as you are accountable for all activities conducted through your account. When using the Blair Online Auctions website, you must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. Any violation can lead to the termination of your website privileges.

It’s important to note that Hansen Auction Group employees and the auction company itself may participate in bidding. All registered bidders are treated equally and have the same opportunities to win items in Blair Online Auctions. The auction platform collects aggregate website information, including visitor numbers, page views, and correspondence. By agreeing to the terms, you consent to receive auction marketing emails to the registered email address.

Payment Terms: Fees, Taxes, and Accepted Methods for Blair Online Auctions

Understanding the payment structure is essential when participating in Blair Online Auctions. A buyer’s fee and applicable sales tax (based on the item’s location) will be added to the final purchase price. These fees are taxable if the item itself is taxable, excluding late fees and certain title fees. A 3.5% convenience fee applies to all credit card transactions.

Sales tax exemption is possible only with a valid sales tax exemption form relevant to the state. For tax-related queries, you should contact [email protected].

Payment methods accepted during scheduled pickup times include cash, certified checks, cashier’s checks, and credit cards. For payments made before pickup, credit cards, wire transfers, or ACH payments are accepted. Blair Online Auctions does not offer payment plans. Cash payments of $10,000.00 or more require IRS Form 8300 to be completed.

A signature is mandatory for item retrieval when paying by credit card. For phone payments, an electronic signature is required upon receipt of the emailed receipt. Accounts may be blocked until the signature is received. Personal or business checks are not accepted unless accompanied by a dated and signed bank letter of guarantee. Stop payment orders on checks incur a $25.00 fee, as do redeposited checks. Mailing payments without prior authorization is not permitted. Returned ACH payments or checks due to NSF or other reasons are subject to a $45.00 fee per instance. In case of a returned payment, Hansen Auction Group reserves the right to repossess the items.

Pickup, Transfer, and Shipping Information for Auction Items

Successful bidders at Blair Online Auctions need to be aware of pickup, transfer, and shipping procedures. During scheduled pickup times, Hansen Auction Group staff are available to assist with cashiering and guide buyers. However, it is the buyer’s responsibility to handle the loading and transportation of purchased items. Ensure all items in your lot are collected to avoid potential disposal fees for abandoned items.

Arranging your own pickup is highly encouraged. Items must be collected during the specified pickup window. Failure to pick up items without prior communication with Hansen Auction Group will result in a minimum $30.00 transfer fee. Transferring items back to a Hansen Auction Group office is also subject to a minimum $30.00 fee, contingent on transfer availability. All invoice amounts and transfer fees must be paid before the end of the scheduled pickup.

Shipping availability should be confirmed with the relevant Hansen Auction Group office prior to bidding, as it is not always an option. Shipping is typically done via USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Speedee. Shipping from offsite auction locations incurs a minimum $30.00 transfer fee, payable before pickup ends. Standard shipping rates plus handling fees (typically $20 or more) apply. Hansen Auction Group is not liable for shipping damages.

Titled Item and Firearm Purchases

For purchases of titled items at Blair Online Auctions, titles are usually certified mailed within 3-5 business days post-auction pickup, unless a title delay is noted. It is the buyer’s responsibility to register the title in their name within 30 days of purchase. Transactions at the Neenah (WI), Mosinee (WI), and Princeton (MN) offices, which are registered dealerships, will include applicable taxes, title, license, processing, and document fees. Refer to the Auction Title informational lot for detailed information.

Firearm purchases through Blair Online Auctions require adherence to specific regulations. Transfers are conducted by Hansen Auction Group or via shipment to a registered FFL dealer. A $20.00 transfer fee per invoice covers background checks, which are mandatory for all firearm transfers. A state-issued ID is required for all transfers. Out-of-state handgun buyers must have their purchases shipped to a local FFL dealer. Hansen Auction Group offers transfers at their registered FFL Dealer locations (Neenah, Downing, and Princeton offices) for a $10.00 fee per firearm. Long gun buyers must be at least 18, and handgun buyers at least 21 years old. Individuals previously denied a firearm transfer are still liable for payment without receiving the firearm and may face termination from the bidding platform for non-compliance.

Miscellaneous and After Pickup Information

Any disputes related to Blair Online Auctions will be resolved through arbitration in the auction location county or the buyer’s county. Media from Hansen Auction Group’s platforms cannot be used by customers.

If purchases remain unsettled after the scheduled pickup, they are considered in default. Unpaid invoices by pickup end will result in charging the card on file for the total amount due, including a 3.5% convenience fee, a minimum $30.00 late fee, and a minimum $30.00 transfer fee if applicable. Pickup outside scheduled times is generally unavailable and may incur extra charges if permitted. Unauthorized pickups after hours may lead to trespassing charges.

Items left unpaid or uncollected after the auction end date without communication become property of Hansen Auction Group. For transferred items, this period is 14 days from arrival at the designated facility and customer notification. Forfeited items may be resold by Hansen Auction Group without refund to the original buyer. Defaulting bidders will be terminated from the bidding platform, with reinstatement considered on a case-by-case basis.
