Scenario 4: Frozen Pile and Team Meld. Bill’s turn. The discard pile is frozen. The top card is K♥. Bill’s team has a King meld on the table. However, to pick up the frozen pile, Bill himself must have a pair of Kings in his hand to make a natural meld with the K♥ from the pile. Since he doesn’t have a pair of Kings in hand, he cannot lay off the top card naturally and must draw from the stock.
Playing Your Hand: Melding and Laying Off
Once you’ve drawn a card (or taken the pile) in Canasta card game online, you can meld and lay off cards. A meld is a set of at least three cards of the same rank. Melds can contain up to 11 cards. There is no combination of melds in your hand that reaches 120 points. Therefore, you cannot make an initial meld this turn. Perhaps your partner can meld and help your team get on the board.

Scenario 4: Canasta Requirement to Go Out. Your team score is 1800 points. You need a 90-point initial meld. You hold 5♥ 5♥ 5♥ 5♥ 9♦ 9♦ 9♦ K♥ K♥ K♥ K♣ 3♠. While melding 5♥ 5♥ 5♥ 5♥ 9♦ 9♦ 9♦ K♥ K♥ K♥ K♣ would easily exceed 90 points, it uses all but one card in your hand. In Canasta card game online, you need a Canasta (a meld of seven or more cards) to go out and end the round. Therefore, you cannot make this initial meld if your intention is to go out immediately because you would be left with only one card and no Canasta yet.
Going Out and Ending the Round
In Canasta card game online, “going out” ends the current round. A team can go out once they have made at least one Canasta (a meld of seven or more cards) on the table.
