Attention employers, CPAs, accountants, and enrolled agents! The Social Security Administration (SSA) is now accepting wage reports for Tax Year 2024 through Business Services Online (BSO). Ensure timely and accurate filing, with the deadline set for January 31, 2025. Your diligence in providing precise wage information is crucial for the integrity of Social Security records.
Important Updates for BSO Users
Zenwork Resumes Electronic Wage Reporting
We are pleased to announce that SSA has resumed accepting electronic wage reports submitted through Zenwork. SSA and Zenwork are actively collaborating to strengthen technical cooperation and minimize the risk of third-party W-2 fraud. This partnership is focused on enhancing the accuracy of Form W-2 information provided to SSA by third-party filers like Zenwork. You can now confidently submit wage and tax statements on Form W-2 for tax year 2024 via Zenwork. This update supersedes the previous communication sent on December 5, 2024, to Zenwork customers.
Enhanced Security Measures for Business Services Online
Submitting W-2s to SSA just got more secure! The login process for Business Services Online (BSO) has been updated to enhance security and protect your sensitive business data.
What does this mean for you?
Your previous BSO User ID and password will no longer grant access to BSO employer services. To access BSO, you will now need to use a secure Social Security online account, or credentials from either ID.me or Login.gov.
To get started, visit the BSO Welcome page. From the “Employers” box, you can easily log in if you have an existing account or create a new one using one of the secure login methods.
This extra layer of security is now mandatory for accessing these key BSO employer services:
- Wage file uploads
- Online W-2/W-2C filing
- AccuWage Online
- Social Security Number Verification Service (SSNVS)
- Viewing wage report name/SSN errors
Access to these services will be unavailable without this enhanced security.
Please note that the option to sign in with your Social Security username will soon be phased out. Transition to Login.gov or ID.me is essential. When signing in with your Social Security username, you will be prompted to create a Login.gov account.
We strongly encourage you to sign in and transition your account now. The process is quick and straightforward, taking only a few minutes. If you already possess a Login.gov or ID.me account, no further action is needed.
